Whilst Martial arts are often seen as a male dominated sport, SCTKD is smashing this stereotype and has near 50% split between Males and Females. We want to do all we can to make sure SCTKD is a fantastic and safe space for girls of all ages to train.
Co-instructor Mrs Collett has been training in Tae Kwon do since age 13 and, as a 4th degree black belt, is one of the GTUK senior graded females. She is also the GTUK England ladies captain and deputy coach.
Nearly 50% of our club is female and we have produced several female regional, national and international champions.
As parents train for free we have several families training together.
Those who kick together stick together.
We love seeing parents training their girls to follwo their footsteps to be strong independent females.
We are keen to remove any barriers for women in sport.
One example of how we do this is that at every session there are spare trousers and sanitary packs for anyone caught out at that time of the month. We call them Minnie Mouse packs and are available no questions asked.
Tae Kwon do is a diverse sport with many elements; including patterns, sparring, self defence, power breaking to flashy kicks there is something for everyone and we love helping women find their confidence.
SCTKD regularly host the GTUK England Squad training sessions. The Ladies team is one of the most successful international teams, winning national and international titles regualrly.
